Fire ravages King Solomon’s building on Main St

Fire destroyed the King Solomon’s building on Main Street early this morning and has temporarily halted operations at Travel Span airline services.

The origin of the blaze is unknown, but it erupted sometime before 3 am and raged for some time before the fire service managed to bring it under control. Reports are that the fire service was forced to return to the scene on three separate occasions after the embers reignited.

King Solomon business operations which included a money transfer service and an auto business were reportedly relocated from the Main Street building a short while ago leaving only Travel Span airlines.

Travel Consultant, Priya Lall told Stabroek News this morning that their operations have been severely affected. She said too that many items were looted from the business by the time they arrived on the scene sometime after 3 am. She said that phones and lap top computers are among the items missing.

Stanford Solomon owned the property but is currently out of the country. A relative told this newspaper that he purchased the property some ten years ago. Prior to this, Joe Chin’s Travel Agency was operating out of the building which has been a fixture on Main Street for decades.
