Afridi asked to explain comments on Pakistan split

KARACHI, (Reuters) – The Pakistan Cricket Board has  demanded one-day captain Shahid Afridi explain comments he made in the media about differences with team management.

Shahid Afridi

Allrounder Afridi returned on Sunday from the West Indies,  where Pakistan won a one-day series 3-2, and said he was unhappy  at interference from management on the tour and would be  speaking to the PCB about it.

“I don’t like people interfering in my domain,” Afridi told  reporters. “I think it would be better if everyone focused on  his job in the team.”

Afridi did not mention any names but local media has  reported that it was coach Waqar Younis who had provoked his  ire.

“Afridi has violated the code of conduct of the board by  making statements in the media,” the PCB statement said.

The PCB said it would take appropriate action in the reports  of differences within team management after getting the  manager’s tour report after the series.
