Henry leads Tucber Park to final

Tucber Park advanced to the final of the Ricks and Sari Agro Industries under-13 cricket competition in Berbice after taking first innings lead in their drawn semi-final match against Albion Community Centre recently.

Tucber Park was led by a fine all-round performance from Keirre Henry (3 for 20 and 73 N.O) and an unbeaten half century from Joseph Giddings as the reached 193-5 in reply to Albion Community Centre’s 72 all out.

Albion Community Centre won the toss and decided  to bat first but lost two wick wickets for 19 runs with opening bowler Renaldo Adams picking up both wickets.

Tyrone Pooranauth and Samuel Krishnasammy added 17  runs for the third wicket before they were dismissed leaving Albion 40 for 4.

Left arm spinner Gavin Moriah Jnr and off-spinner Henry then snared three wickets each, as  Albion plunged to 72 all out with Devendra Lakeram topscoring with 14.

Tucber Park also lost two quick wickets for only 21 runs to Albion’s Veeren Ramoo when they started their reply.

But Henry, batting at number three, and Michael Niamatali, added 22 runs for the third wicket before Niamatali fell for eight.

Henry and Enoch Carmichael then saw Tucber Park safely past the crucial first innings target with a  43-run fifth wicket stand before Carmichael was dismissed for 25.

Henry and new batsman Joseph Giddings then proceeded to put on 104 in an unbroken sixth wicket stand to take Tucber Park to 193 for 5 when their innings closed after the 50-overs first innings limitation.

Giddings was unbeaten on 57 which included seven boundaries.

Bowling for Albion Community Centre, Ramoo took 3 for 86.

Facing a first innings deficit of 129 runs with 90 minutes of play left in the match, Albion Community Centre reached 88 for 5 before the game was called off.
