The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) has said preparations for the Region Four Culture Fest are almost set for the Carifesta Sports Complex on Sunday.
In a press release, the ERC said it is collaborating with multi-stakeholders from the Region to produce a packed programme for this year’s festival, which is being held under the theme ‘Encouraging and creating respect for religious, cultural and other forms of diversity in a plural society.’ The festival offers the public the opportunity to enjoy a recreational and education activity across all races and cultural and other difference. To date, 16 groups have registered their interest in performing. The programme will also include an exhibition and the sale of traditional foods, beverages and cultural artefacts. “Already some 20 organisations have reserved exhibition spaces,” the release said.
About 60 organisations have registered their participation in various sports including football, softball cricket, table tennis, dominoes and volleyball. Novelty games, such as lime-and-spoon, tug-o-war and sac-race, will also be held.
