Bandits ambush overseas-based Guyanese at LBI

Three armed men robbed an overseas-based man and two of his relatives during an early morning attack at Granville Park, La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara.

Police said the robbery occurred at around 3am yesterday, after Dawn Lyken-Segasebe, 44, Corlette Lyken, 45, and overseas-based Guyanese Kevin Lyken, 27, had just arrived at their residence in the gated community.

According to police, they were about to enter the premises when a motor car drove up and the three perpetrators exited and held them up. The release said the men took away a quantity of jewellery, a laptop computer, three cellular phones, a Sony camera, and $240,000 in cash, after which they made good their escape.

When Stabroek News visited the victims’ residence, entry into the gated and secured community was refused. Attempts to make contact with the three proved futile. Relatives of the Lykens later informed this newspaper that the victims are here for a wedding, scheduled for today, and they were too in shock to comment.
