Simmons helps Carlton reach One-day Final

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Lendl Simmons made a small contribution, helping Carlton reach the Final of the Super Cup One-day competition with three-wicket victory over highly-favoured Empire in the semi-finals  yesterday.

The Trinidad & Tobago and West Indies opener made 27, as Carlton, chasing 238 for victory, reached their target with 10 balls remaining in the match at Friendship.

Barbados opener Dale Richards lived up to his nickname “The Hammer” to lead the way for Carlton, pummelling Empire’s attack for four fours and six sixes in a typically belligerent of 66 from 57 balls. National all-rounder Kevin Stoute had gathered nine fours and two sixes in 97 from 112 balls, as Empire were dismissed for 237 in 48.5 overs. Former national youth batsman Shawn Graham supported with 48.

Carlton will face St. Catherine, who won a lopsided semi-final over Pickwick by eight wickets at Dayrells Road.

St. Catherine captain and left-arm spinner Derrick Bishop captured four for 13, and fellow former national youth captain Kenroy Williams took four for 19, as Pickwick were bowled out for 89 in 30.2 overs, after they were sent in to bat.
