An unlicensed shotgun and some cartridges were on Sunday recovered by police ranks at Aishalton, Rupununi. According to a police press release, on the day in question the ranks were on patrol at Aishalton, when they saw a man drop a bag and run away as they were approaching. An unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun and six cartridges were recovered in the bag, the release said. Meanwhile, police said in another release that on Monday the toshao of Aishalton Village handed over an unlicensed .38 revolver to the police and reported that the firearm was recovered from a man who had allegedly threatened a female in the village. The release said that the police responded promptly but the suspect managed to escape before their arrival at the scene.
