Gang rape accused granted bail

Two men who have been imprisoned for three years after they were accused of rape were on September 29 granted bail due to the failure of State Prosecutors to locate the victim.

Arlex Aaron, 41, and Quebert Elgin, 40, were granted conditional freedom on $100,000 bonds by Justice Roxanne George after State Counsel Konyo Sandiford and Prithima Kissoon failed to present the rape victim.

It is alleged that in 2008, at Parika, East Bank Essequibo, the two accused, in the company of another, gang raped the virtual complainant.

It was noted that they would be required to report to the police station in their respective district every month until their case is heard and determined.
