‘The writing is on the wall’

Dear Editor,

The National Communications Network (NCN) in New Amsterdam on at least two occasions aired a replay of Moses Nagamootoo’s speech when he condemned Khemraj Ramjattan and the Alliance for Change (AFC) during the 2006 election campaign.  It is apparent the idea was to mislead viewers about Mr Nagamootoo’s present dislike of the aforementioned. Gross deception indeed.

Now that Moses has had enough of the PPP/C’s shunning him, and has claimed to have been “bulldozed out of the executive“ even after glorifying and committing himself to the PPP/C and President Jagdeo, his services should now be trained on the people of Guyana and the country as a whole. He should not let the PPP once more cajole and deceive him, for the party is as far from the ideal of his mentor, the late Dr Jagan, as night is from day.  Guess Dr Jagan must be spinning in his grave at the transformation.

Knowing the negative perception of the PNC – now APNU – which would hardly capture Indian votes his obvious choice for alignment was the AFC.  The AFC has been attracting the largest crowds except for those bussed and trucked in by the PPP/C at rallies and meetings, and is well on the road to forming the next government.  Their message is being heard.

A Moses Nagamootoo on the AFC slate will drive the final nail in the PPP/C demise.  The writing is on the wall; the PPP/C has messed up too much.

There is an end to everything as we are now witnessing in the Arab world and have observed in the fall of communism after 80 years of brain-washing. The PNC (APNU) should also realize their reign has ended and it is not likely they will ever again win an election.

They should pull out, and give the AFC a certain victory.  Let development of the country and betterment of the people take precedence over self-agrandisement and party dominance.

Yours faithfully,
M Sookraj
