APNU donates to fire-hit Linden family

A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) was the first to provide aid for a Linden family that lost all their possessions in an early Sunday afternoon fire.

APNU gave the family of 17, of Lot 774 One Mile Wismar, a large quantity of groceries and it is currently exploring the possibilities of assisting them to rebuild their house. Roxanne McTurk, her children Suanne and Brian Morris, Annesia and Keneshia McTurk and her grandsonShareef Fraser who resided on the second floor of the two–storey building have now been left homeless. Other family members occupied the lower flat of the building.

Residents blamed the current administration for failing to solve the age-old problem of fire fighters being unable to extinguish fires before buildings are consumed. People’s National Congress Reform councillor Renis Morian, who is attached to RDC, said they recognise the family’s devastating loss and was moved to offer some much-needed relief.

Morian said members of the partnership, business entities around Linden and the partnership’s youth arm pooled resources and made a donation to the family. He also said the party plans to offer more assistance as it takes steps to evaluate the damages. The councillor also extended gratitude to all the persons and businesses who contributed to the relief effort.

The family has since been given accommodation at the homes of relatives and friends.
