Labourer accused of stealing Richard Ishmael school stationery

Magistrate Sueanna Lovell yesterday remanded a 39-year-old man accused of breaking and enter and larceny committed at the Richard Ishmael Secondary School.

The Georgetown Magistrates’ Court heard that between October 30 and November 29, Milton Smith, a labourer of Lot 169 Thomas Street, Kitty, broke into the school and stole a quantity of stationery, valued $74,540, belonging to the Ministry of Education. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

The prosecutor told the court that on October 30, a security officer allegedly saw the accused scaling the school fence. The woman raised an alarm and the man dropped a large bag which he had in his possession, and made good his escape. On November 29, the accused was arrested and allegedly identified by the said guard as the perpetrator who committed the offence. The prosecutor objected to bail.

Smith was ordered to appear in court on December 12.
