Police destroy Berbice River marijuana fields

During yesterday, the police say they conducted drug eradication operations at Gateroy and De Veldt in the Berbice River.

A total of eight fields of marijuana plants, approximately18 acres in size, with about 85,000 marijuana plants ranging in height between one and ten feet were found.

In addition, 18 nurseries and 500 kilogrammes of dried cannabis were found and destroyed along with the marijuana plants.

Fourteen 12 gauge cartridges were also recovered in an abandoned camp.

No arrest was made.
