Banks should not charge for electronic transactions

Dear Editor,

We suggest that our new government should put a ban on banks charging fees when people pay by credit or debit cards for goods and services.

It seems imperative to get back to a situation where personal cash remains at the same level through electronic transactions. If you deposit one thousand dollars in an account and withdraw it, irrespective of the method, it should never ever be allowed to become anything less than one

thousand dollars. In other words, there should not be any negative difference between keeping

your money in your purse and depositing it in a bank and withdrawing it later.

Yours faithfully,
