Miner charged over Broad St. wounding

Mark Braithwaite, a miner, was yesterday placed on $85,000 bail after pleading not guilty to an unlawful wounding charge at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Braithwaite, 25, is alleged to have wounded Tineto Farley at Broad Street, Charlestown, on December 29.

No details were presented to the court by police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield on what had transpired on the day in question. The prosecutor, however, related that he had no objection to bail but asked that it be set at a substantial sum to ensure that the man return to court when the matter is called again.

Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton later set bail and adjourned the case until January 25.
