Trio accused of assault at Brickdam Police Station

Three young men accused of assaulting another at the Brickdam Police Station were yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $25,000 each when they appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.

The allegation against Edger Lawson, Jason Miller and Jomo Johnson is that on August 16 at the Brickdam Police Station, they unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kurt Adamson so as to cause him actual bodily harm.

The jointly-charged trio denied the assault charge when it was read to them at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Lawson, 18,  and Johnson, 17, are miners who both reside at 172 Charlotte Street, Lacytown, Georgetown, while Miller, 24, is a musician who lives at 2075 Nevis Street, Festival City, North Ruimveldt.

No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

The prosecution had no objection to the men being granted their pre-trial liberty but requested that bail be set in a substantial sum to ensure they return to court to stand trial.

The matter was transferred to Court One for November 2.
