Gov’t commits $1M to sports in Jawalla

The Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven community of Jawalla is benefiting from $1M from Government towards the improvement of sport and the provision of equipment, according to the Government Information Agency.

  Amerindian Affairs Minister Pauline Sukhai during a recent outreach to Region Seven attended the village’s football finals tournament and in brief remarks she commended the District Sports Council for their leadership and organization skills which contributed to the successful tournament.

The tournament, held under the theme “In the Spirit of Unity” saw males and females participating in the games.

GINA yesterday said that this year the Amerindian Affairs Ministry also provided the community with a boat and engine to enable easier transportation access for athletes involved in sport competitions.
