Father of four remanded over murder of Tarla Dam woman

A 30–year-old father of four was today remanded to prison for the murder of Radika Ramjattan who was stabbed to death on Tuesday night at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

Andrew Khetwaroo was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder when it was read to him by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus   at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.

Ramjattan, 42, was stabbed once to the chest at her home at Tarla Dam, Meten-Meer-Zorg while she and her reputed ex-husband were drinking along with a cousin and other individuals.

The accused was remanded to prison until October 5th.

A post-mortem examination performed on Wednesday on the body of the woman revealed the cause of death as shock due to stabbing.

According to the woman’s uncle Jewan Sookraj, all witnesses in the matter have since given statements to the police.

Police had also revealed that a knife suspected to have been used was recovered from the scene.
