‘Kidnapped’ fisher found

Police yesterday revealed that the fisherman who it was alleged had been kidnapped after he went missing on Friday was found on Monday night on a dam at Farm Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara.

According to a press release Rasheed Bridgemohan called “Convict” of the North West District stated that he had not been kidnapped.

The man’s aunt who on Monday afternoon had received three phone calls from her nephew’s alleged ‘kidnappers’ told Stabroek News yesterday that she was made to understand that he [Bridgemohan], who was having “domestic problems” went off to “cool his head” and did not feel like telling anyone of his whereabouts. The woman lamented that it was unfair all the stress she went through – given that she is a heart case who also suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, while adding that “he has his Blackberry phone, he coulda call and tell me well auntie me alright and so”.

She continued that instead of making her happy during the few days he is spending at her home, he has caused her trouble. She said she is still puzzled as to who could’ve placed the disturbing calls about the “kidnap”, and added that the police are looking into the matter.

Bridgemohan is currently in police custody assisting with the investigations.
