Cabinet approves five contracts

Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon said Cabinet offered no objections to five contracts in the water and security sectors and for infrastructural development, at its November 15 statutory meeting.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release, in the security sector a contract valued US$90,350 was green-lighted for consultancy services for the institutional modernisation of the Guyana Police force. A contract valued $36.1 million for the construction of a pontoon for the Coast Guard was also approved, GINA said.

In the water sector, a contract valued $91.8 million was given the go-ahead for the supply of materials and labour for the drilling of a potable well at Skeldon, Region Six. Regarding infrastructure, a $28.8 million contract was approved for the construction of stations in the laying of fibre optic cables from Lethem to Georgetown. In addition, a $137.9 million contract was approved for the docking and repairs to the dredge Steve N.
