The Stag Beer & El Dorado Rum Softball Cricket Tournament continued last weekend across the country at various venues.
In a match that had two centurions, Richard Persaud and Lalta Gainda stroked Floodlights to a 90-run victory over Yusuf XI, scoring 121 and 100 respectively.
Rockets overhauled Bel Air by 110 runs reaching 197 for 6 with good contributions from Vickram Boodram, 47, and Sarjoo Persaud 42 not out while Trophy Stall B handed a heavy defeat of 124 runs to the Black Caps.
Meanwhile Richard Latif made a brilliantly timed 117 not out to guide Regal to an 82-run victory over Jaguars.
Bel Air came back later in the day to edge Upsetters by 9 runs despite the meaningful innings of Avinash Rooplall who made 71.
On the distaff side Lusignan Street Warriors defeated Mahaica Princesses by 41 runs. Lusignan scored 101 for 6 with Vanetta Chunoo top scoring with 29. However Mahaica Princesses could only muster 60 for 9 while Sabina Singh took a hat-trick 3 for 6 for the Warriors.
Zola Merai’s timely 83 helped the Buxton Stars to a 61-run victory over Cumming Lodge Angels. Buxton SDtars made 121 for 1 while disciplined bowling restricted the Angels to 60 for 3.
The Essequibo zone also saw some good action as Die Hard defeated Young Warriors by 107 runs. Die Hard scored 182 for 6 with Patrick Rooplall and Khalid Baksh putting up 61 and 52 respectively. Young Warriors were then bowled out for 75 with Raymond Taylor taking 3 wickets for Die Hard.
While Reliance defeated Perseverance by 4 runs Manchester Females defeated Letter Kenny Females by 4 wickets.
