Johnson to spearhead GTTA team to pre-cadet c/ships

Elishaba Johnson, son of national coach Linden Johnson, will spearhead the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA)’s team to this year’s pre cadet championships scheduled for the Dominican Republic next month.

Johnson, a first form student of St Stanislaus College, is the most experienced player in the squad selected by the GTTA and released yesterday by the organization’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Patrick Triumph, himself a former national player.

The championships will be held from July 19 to 25.

Johnson will receive support from Kyle Edghill, Shemar Britton and Miguel Wong, the other players in the boys 13 years and under category.

Missing from the team is Rajiv Muneshwar who was a member of the team that won gold a few years ago.

St Margaret’s student Priscilla Greaves will spearhead the female 13 years and under category with support from Jamaali Homer, Kristie Lopes and Anna Joao.

Jeremy Singh, son of former national player Lisa Lewis will lead the boys 10 years and under category.

The other players in that division are Akeem Foster, Khalil Ninvalle and Brandon Jaikarran while the female 10 years and under players are   Selena Jackman, Nevaeh Clarkston and badminton star Priyanna Ramdhani.

According to the selectors, the fourth player in this category is still to be confirmed.

Hosts Dominican Republic, Barbados, Aruba, Jamaica, French Guiana, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Puerto Rico are among the countries expected to participate in the competition.
