Waramadong Secondary, Lethem pee wee group to get football uniforms

Waramadong Secondary and a pee wee group in Lethem will receive football uniforms, compliments of Arts Living Foundation.
The presentation was made on Saturday at the Carifesta Sports Complex where a football competition was organized by the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs.

Making the presentation was Mark Rodrigues, Chairman of the Hinterland Youth and Development Association.

Rodrigues said they selected Waramadong Secondary to receive the uniforms because of their performance at the recent Digicel Schools Championship.

Lemin Thomas, a teacher at Waramadong, said that they were grateful for the uniforms. He said the Digicel competition was a first for the school in the city and it would not be their last.

Thomas said as a result of the championship the school now has an organised football team. Training, he said, is now done on a regular basis as it is their intention to win the next schools championship.

A few of the students who had competed in the schools championship took part in the football competition on Saturday.
Shaun Persaud, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee for football in the Rupununi, accepted the uniforms that will be turned over the pee wee group.

The uniforms, he said, would further motivate the children who are very much into football.
