Murray set to be new LABA president

Captain Eon Murray and the rest of his executive are expected to be installed into office today when the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of office bearers for the 2011/12 term takes place.

The meeting will take place from 1pm at the Linden Technical Institute auditorium and some eight clubs are expected to attend.

The AGM and subsequent elections were postponed recently after only two clubs, Amelia’s Ward Jets and Retrieve Raiders, turned up.

Outgoing president Abdullah ‘Zico’ Hamid had told Stabroek Sport that the clubs were given adequate notice of the AGM.

Murray’s slate includes Sports Journalists Rawle Toney who is tipped to be a vice-president and Joe Chapman who is earmarked for the secretary position.
