Drainage system fully prepared for rainy season -Agriculture Minister

Over the next few days the country is expected to experience a mixture of moderate to heavy rainfall and to counter any possible flooding, the necessary measures have been put in place, Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy told the Government Information Agency (GINA.)

Ramsammy told GINA the ministry has ensured that all the sluices and drainage canals are functional and that there is hourly monitoring of these structures. This will continue over the next few days.

The East Demerara Water Conservancy (EDWC) is also being monitored to ensure that the water level remains at a safe level.
