GT&T should look at the problems of Region Two subscribers

The outstanding contributions the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) have made over the past decades to create and develop the communication sector must be acknowledged and also appreciated. The company has also contributed significantly to the development of sport, culture, education and many other areas from which we all benefited tremendously, and for such we must be grateful.

But while there was some increase in the amount of landlines in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) over the last couple of years, which may be part of the company’s expansion programme, the quality of service in both the 774 and 771 exchanges sometimes is very poor and unreliable.

My observations are that the number of technicians is few and the experienced ones are no longer working in the region; a few of them have retired and others have been posted elsewhere.

I would suggest that GT&T, a company which can be considered to be our very own, look at the problems subscribers in Region Two have been experiencing for a long while now.
