Police say that investigations are being conducted into a fire that occurred at the Immigration Office in the Multipurpose Complex at Lethem at about 0400h today. It was quickly extinguished by police ranks assisted by members of the Guyana Defence Force stationed at Lethem, police said.
The fire resulted in damage to a computer, two filing cabinets and several chairs within the Immigration Office. As a result, the Immigration Department will be temporarily operating from the police office within the complex, the police said.
