I refer to your article ‘Three on cocaine, ganja trafficking’ set out at p2 of the Stabroek News of Saturday, January 21, 2012.
The article mentioned that, “… attorney Peter Hugh said he wished the court to note that Reddy was beaten by CANU…”
I wish to recommend that you read the article on the said matter set out at p3 of the Kaieteur News and perhaps you could learn a lesson as to what responsible reporting is all about.
The attorney-at-law representing CANU not only denied Mr Hugh’s allegation but offered Mr Hugh and his client to choose a doctor of their choice to do the medical examination in the presence of the police doctor.
You may also wish to note that after Mr Hugh stated his client was severely beaten, attorney-at-law for CANU requested that the injuries resulting from the “severe beating” be shown to the court. To this, Mr Hugh responded that the court was not a doctor.
I wish to conclude by expressing our appreciation to the magistracy for the speedy trial which would be would be afforded to three defendants. The court has set aside the entire 7th of the February for this.
