Star Buzz Foundation aims to help needy children

A Canada-based Guyanese is launching a charity that aims to provide academic opportunities for orphans and underprivileged children nationwide.

According to a press release, Mrs Lolita Persaud, the president of the Star Buzz Foundation said it aims to realise the slogan, “equal access to education for all.”

It is part of a national programme where NGOs, institutions, businesses, corporations and volunteers with similar interests work to put needy children on the path to success.

The Foundation will be launched on Saturday.

In an effort to ensure that no child would be denied the opportunity to educate themselves because of circumstances, the Star Buzz Café, which will also be launched on Saturday, will donate 3% of its net profit every month to the Foundation. “Besides providing moral and logistical support, we also wanted to demonstrate some corporate leadership as well in advocating and ensuring the business community in Guyana doesn’t shirk their corporate responsibility of contributing positively to the less fortunate amongst us,” Persaud said. “The key to this project is participation,” she added.
