Woman remanded over drug trafficking at Ogle Airport

A woman accused of trafficking in a quantity of cocaine and cannabis was on Monday remanded to prison after appearing before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Michelle Sandy Sancho is that on January 21 at the Ogle International Airport, she had in her possession six grammes of cocaine and 190 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

The 38-year-old miner who resides at 472 Sophia denied the charges when they were read to her.

Attorney-at-law Vic Puran who is prosecuting for CANU told the court that on the day in question the accused was an outgoing passenger to an interior location when she was nabbed with the illegal substance concealed in a black plastic bag.

Her matter was transferred to the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court for January 25.
