Is the IMC’s role as limited as Lloyd has suggested?

Dear Editor,

I refer to the current imbroglio surrounding the Guyana Cricket Board and in particular the formation of the IMC.

Whilst I do not offer opinion as to the legality of the IMC, I have to ask what the role of the IMC is in view of Mr Clive Lloyd’s statements in your edition of Monday, January 30, that it is there to facilitate a new constitution and to make it more transparent.  Now what was the intention of the government when the IMC was formed?  Was its mandate as limited as Mr Lloyd is suggesting?  If so, then the question is whether or not Mr Lloyd is being paid, and if he is, exactly what he is expected to do for his salary.  My understanding is that the other members of the IMC are volunteers.

Now, this has nothing to do with Mr Lloyd’s status as a former Test cricketer, but only accountability for taxpayers’ money if he is receiving emoluments – the same thing many are crusading for.

Yours faithfully
