Man accused of verbally abusing wife on $10,000 bail

Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton granted $10,000 bail to a Trinidad-based Guyanese man accused of using abusive language to his wife, when he yesterday appeared in court to answer to the charges.

The Georgetown Magistrates’ Court heard that on January 28, at North Cummingsburg, Georgetown, 32-year-old Gabriel Lochan used abusive language to Julie Lochan whereby a breach of the peace was occasioned. The defendant, who gave his local address as Lot 5 Water Street, Kingston, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution did not present any facts on the matter. However, it asked the court to order that the parties be restrained from one another until the determination of the matter.

Gabriel Lochan was ordered to appear in Court One on February 10 for report and fixtures.
