The Rupununi Miners Association was formed on Sunday

The Rupununi Miners Association was formed on Sunday after 47 miners from the area attended a meeting held at Aishalton, South Rupununi. According to Chairman of the new association, Sugreem Singh, the new association seeks to represent miners in different mining areas. Other office bearers elected at the meeting are Leevan Joannis – vice-chairman; Ermelinda Joseph – secretary; Clifford Winter – assistant secretary and Brandon Antone – treasurer. Meanwhile, committee members were also chosen from three areas: Sebastian Cheong, Jermain Springer and Wayne Buckley from Parabara; Elsie DaSilva, Aubrey Phoenix and Wenceslaus Albert from Wakadanau and Elroy Young, Anthony Abbensetts and David Benjamin from Marudi.
