It is believed that one of the men entered the Greens’ Canary Street, East La Penitence home via the verandah glass door and then opened the front door for his accomplices.

Two of the men were armed with guns and one of them entered the bedroom where Chase-Green and her husband Terence were asleep. Mr Green said he awoke and saw the man and he inquired what he was doing in their room as he thought the individual to be a friend of his grandson. The bandit without hesitating dealt him a blow with his gun causing a laceration to his left cheek.

Mr Green said the bandits then took jewellery, three cell phones, a play station, a flat screen television and an Acer laptop belonging to his grandson and escaped through an alley opposite the house.

The police were notified and responded promptly resulting in one bandit being captured and the television set and one cellular phone being recovered.

A pair of boots was also left at the Greens’ home and family members said they believed one of the perpetrators had removed it to enable ease into the point of entrance.

Green also said that the family does not believe the home was targeted because of his wife’s influential position, but that it was just an unfortunate situation.
