Vendors should not be selling behind the Stabroek fire station after 8

Dear Editor,
I wish to draw to your attention the lawlessness displayed by the Stabroek Market vendors selling in the morning hours behind the fire station. These vendors are supposed to finish selling and move off by 8 o’clock in the morning so that the vendors selling in Stabroek market would have proper access to park their vehicles and also to take their goods into the Market. In addition, the 31 and 32 minibuses need to be able to park properly so there can be a smooth flow of traffic.

It seems that the city constabulary is afraid to ask these vendors behind the fire station to adhere to simple rules such as not to sell after 8 o’clock in the morning. Whenever someone makes a complaint, there are always excuses that there are no ranks available. But this is not true. Ranks can be seen soliciting goods from some of these vendors free of cost.

The Mayor should note that this is a potential catastrophe and someone should look into this serious situation as early as possible before it gets worse.
Yours faithfully,
