City to launch crackdown in Orange Walk area

The city constabulary plans to take action against a number of persons in the Orange Walk area who are apparently associated with noise nuisance, double parking, and urination in public, particularly  in the late evenings and especially on Fridays and Saturdays.

According to a press release from M&CC Public Relations Officer Royston King, “persons who appeared to be attached to or shop at stalls located in the Orange Walk area have been indulging in creating noise nuisance and double parking on council’s parapets and reserves in that section. It is unacceptable and cannot be permitted. Stall owners who operate in that area have a responsibility to assist the council to maintain order in that section.”

“Some patrons of some of the vendors selling beverages and other snacks are in the habit of urinating on parapets and the verges of drains in that area much to the annoyance of decent and law-abiding citizens.”

In addition, “many motorists are double parking on the bridges and in the entrances and exits of house owners there. They appear not to worry about the inconvenience they are causing to residents and the risk they pose to others using that busy roadway,” the release noted.
