Man had ganja in black plastic bag at home

A man who was accused of trafficking in cannabis in Alberttown was remanded to prison on Monday by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after he pleaded not guilty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Teon Edwards was accused of having in his possession on April 20 at Alberttown, a narcotic, that is to say 582 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, stated that on the day in question police who were conducting an exercise went to Edwards’ home where they unearthed a black plastic bag which contained a quantity of leaves, stems and seeds  suspected to be cannabis. He was arrested and later charged.

Edwards has to  return to court on Friday.
