Tabatinga man loses chance at bail after violating previous bond

A man appearing in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday on four charges lost his chance at being granted bail when Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton found out that he was in violation of a previous bond.

Lloyd Hutch after pleading not guilty to four charges was seeking bail when the court heard of a prior bond imposed on him by another magistrate.

He would have violated that bond by being charged with the present offences and he was  remanded to prison.

The court heard that Hutch on April 28 at Tabatinga, Central Rupununi assaulted Elpino Ambrose and earlier  on March 8 at the same address he assaulted Evenet Hutch, causing her actual bodily harm. He also made use of threatening behaviour and language to Elvira Ambrose.

The 56-year-old man said he is a supervisor with Civil Aviation attached to the Ministry of Public Works and his job takes him away from his home most of the time  but  his common law wife wants him out of his own home.

Prosecutor, Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey objected to bail because of the man’s living arrangements but stated that if alternatives could be found then he would not object to bail.

However after the issue of the violation of a previous  bond, bail was  refused.

Hutch has to return to court on May 9.
