Five Venezuelans were ordered deported and fined $30,000 each by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Hugo Lopez, Louis Sanchez, Jose Reyes, Geracdo Aleya and Jose Solomo were charged with the offence of entering Guyana illegally on May 4.
An application was made by the police for them to return to their country of origin, but they will remain in custody until their deportation is confirmed.
