Food for the Poor continues Meals on Wheels programme

Food for the Poor (Guyana) Incorporated as part of its 21st anniversary celebrations continued with its Meals on Wheels programme last Sunday, a press release from the organization said.

In the evening over 170 persons benefitted from a bowl of soup,  large slices of cake and in some cases those fortunate enough were given blankets to keep them warm.

The programme which commenced in November 2011 is aimed at assisting vagrants, the destitute, the homeless and abandoned men, women and children.

The Bourda Market, Church Street, Avenue of the Republic, Stabroek Market, Seawalls Bandstand, Ruimveldt Riverview and the Burnham Basketball Court are the areas usually targeted and the Night Shelter and other geriatric homes are also supplied with hot meals monthly, the release added.
