Man refused bail in gold bangles theft

Terrence Wills, who faced an indictable charge of larceny from the person in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, was denied bail by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.

On May 28, in Georgetown, Wills, 23, allegedly stole a pair of gold bangles, valued $120,000, from Lilowtie Persaud. He was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge but he asked to make an application for bail.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Tracymay Gittens objected to bail on the grounds that Wills has matters before another court. He, however, denied this claim and the Prosecutor Gittens was ordered to make checks. She then asked for the defendant to be remanded.

Wills is expected to make his next court appearance in Court Three today.
