Not cocaine utensils, vacuum sealer – court hears

A father of two appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday to answer the charge of possession of utensils used in the preparation of cocaine and Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton placed him on $50,000 bail.

Dwayne Ferdinand allegedly had in his possession utensils used in the preparation of cocaine on February 27 in Meadow Brook.

Ferdinand was represented by attorney-at-law Vic Puran who stated that his client is a father of two children and he has no previous convictions.

He also stated in his application for bail that his client is one who the police are eager to bring to court for this non-matter.

He stated that the charge does not even state what the utensils are but he is happy to tell the court that it is a vacuum sealer to which they are referring.

He further stated that his client has no reason to run from this matter and so  he is not a flight risk.

There was no objection made by Police Prosecutor Simone Payne to the application for bail.

Ferdinand is expected to return to court today in Court Three.
