Male not female

Dear Editor,

It is with great displeasure that I am forced to highlight an error made in your Friday June 29 publication. Under the report titled ‘Unions, students protest for UG council’s replacement,’ the caption of a photograph showing a student holding a placard referred to the protestor as “she.” That clearly was not the case, as the person in the photograph was a male student. This incident has caused much embarrassment for the said student and may serve as a deterrent to students who may want to be involved in future events of activism undertaken by the University of Guyana Students’ Society. We kindly ask that some corrective measures be taken by your newspaper to assist in alleviating the burdens which the student now has to bear.

Yours faithfully,
Mahendra Doraisami
Executive Council Member
University of Guyana Students’ Society
