I want to commend the management of the Stabroek News, for the bold and necessary step that it took for placing its allegations of government discrimination before a recent conference of the International Press Institute in Trinidad and Tobago.
Editor-in-Chief Anand Persaud is in order to maintain national and international attention on the fact that the PPP/C administration is continuing to withhold state advertising from your medium because Stabroek News indulges in detective reporting in relation to what happens in Guyana.
I sincerely hope that Anand Persaud’s recent advocacy at the IPI Congress, along with management’s previous agitations will stir the PPP/C regime to amend its position.
I also urge other institutions and individuals to support your efforts, because in the final analysis, the government is not spending its own money; the money belongs to the taxpayers.
