The Guyana Power and Light Inc yesterday said that as a precautionary measure, the Onverwagt Power Station was shut down at 09:10 hours on Monday due to unsafe water levels resulting from heavy and persistent rainfall along with the high tide. As a result, consumers in West Berbice would have been without power until 11:45 a.m. on Monday.
