Man charged over armed robbery of auto sales proprietor

A Rose Hall Town man yesterday appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrate Court before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo charged with armed robbery and was remanded to prison.

It was alleged that Marlon Abel, 25, of Rose Hall Town, while armed with a gun, robbed Peter Hicks, proprietor of Peter’s Motor Spares and Auto Sales on July 18 around 8.30 pm of three gold bands and three gold chains valued at $1 million. The prosecution objected to bail, stating that the defendant has current matters before the court of a similar nature.

Abel was not required to plead and his matter was transferred to the Albion Magistrate’s Court for next Tuesday. He was remanded to the New Amsterdam prison.
