Atlantis gets the better of Police

Atlantis Cricket Club of the United States of America yesterday scored a 15-run victory over a Guyana Police Force XI in the second match of the three-way club teams T20 match at the Guyana Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.

Batting first Atlantis scored 160- 7 off their allotted 20 overs with  consistent scores from most of the batsmen.

Ron Andrews scored 36  with two sixes and four fours while Kavishkar Brijpaul supported with  33 aided by three sixes and two fours. Also among the runs were  Jason Greaves whose 28 was decorated with  three sixes and one four; Nicholas Stanford who struck two sixes and one four in 26 and Ryan Sukhdeo’s  who scored 12 with one six and one four.

Bowling for Police medium pacers Fitzroy Culley 4-18, R. Haynes 2-16 and Trevor Benn 1-20 were the wicket takers.

In reply, despite a blazing half century from Benn, the former Guyana  all rounder, Police folded and were dismissed for 145.

Benn top scored with 65 an innings that included  five sixes and three fours while Haynes blasted three sixes in scoring an unbeaten 22.
J. Heyliger chipped in with 12 an innings that included a solitary six and one four while Culley made 10.

Bowling for Atlantis, off-spinner Greaves picked up 4-23 while Hugh Craig ended with 4-30.  Alex Amsterdam 1-22 and Stanford 1-28 were the other wicket takes.

The competition concludes tomorrow with DCC opposing Police at the DCC ground Queenstown.
