Man to be sentenced for stabbing his uncle

A 25-year-old man who stabbed his uncle was on Friday  remanded to prison until today when he will be sentenced for the offence.
Chrispo Hinds accepted that on July 26 at Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Stanford Williams.

Presenting the facts of the case, Police Corporal Simone Payne said that on the day in question, the complainant who is the uncle of the defendant was going to bathe.
The court heard that as he was passing the kitchen Hinds took a knife and stabbed his uncle twice.

As the prosecution’s facts were being related to the court, the defendant blurted out,  “Is one time I stab he, me in know where the other one come from, he got to know duh.”

The magistrate read the complainant’s medical certificate to the court which stated that he had sustained two stab wounds, one to the upper arm and another to his chest.
The mason, however, maintained that he only stabbed his uncle once in the region of the arm.

When asked if he had previous brushes with the law, Hinds said that he was convicted and sentenced to a 16-month prison term on a robbery charge.
When asked when that sentence was handed down and when it ended, the defendant could not properly give the response the court was seeking.
The matter was then adjourned to today pending enquiries into that conviction before sentencing.
In the meantime, Hinds was remanded to prison.

When asked if he was unwell or mentally ill, the defendant’s mother who was present indicated to the court, “Something is wrong with my son.” She however said that she did not want to say anything as her son threatens her.
