The Guyana Table Tennis Association will host a club team from Barbados comprising cadet players at the beginner and intermediate levels from today.
According to a press release from the GTTA, the team will under the guidance of G. Sobers, will comprise over 11 players.
The players accompanied by parents are scheduled to arrive in Guyana today at around 2pm. This is the second such exchange type programme with regional table tennis counterparts that the GTTA has hosted.
Last year the GTTA hosted a similar type programme with players from Tobago following the staging of the Caribbean Championships where the players from both teams participated in coaching under Sydney Christophe, Linden Johnson and Godfrey Munroe before engaging each other in team and individual tournaments.
Similar programs are planned for this group utilizing players from the respective summer programmes conducted by GTTA coaches.
“The programme has been truly beneficial to many players and have seen an exponential rise in their level of play, confidence and holistic development after participating,” a release from the GTTA stated.
