Dear Editor,
I hope that I am not alone in taking note of President Ramotar’s attempts to display strong-arm tactics over the recent peaceful demonstrations of civil disobedience in Linden. In common Guyanese parlance, Mr Ramotar wants to be ‘wrong and strong.’ He is not expressing sympathy and empathy in relation to the dead and injured on July 18; he is still to visit the injured, yet he wants to lay down conditions for having consultations about the people’s grievances in Linden.
I believe that Mr Ramotar should humble himself; stop his dictatorial actions and be more accessible to all the people of Guyana, and there should be an independent commission of inquiry into the shootings of July 18.
