The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) yesterday called for an immediate de-escalation of tension in the mining town of Linden as it condemned the Joint Services operations there.
The party in a statement yesterday said that the operation has resulted in the shooting of several civilians who were peacefully demonstrating.
The party said it noted with alarm the ‘militarisation of the crisis which it said only served to increase tensions in the area.
The party said that it will continue to support the “legitimate struggle” of the people of the mining town for human rights and economic justice.
